EXduro™ FRP CABLE LADDER & TRAY SYSTEMS FOR HARSH INDUSTRIAL ENVIRONMENTS

Treadwell’s EXduro™ FRP cable ladder and tray systems deliver a complete non metallic cable management solution for demanding industrial environments. Manufactured from fibre reinforced polymer, EXduro™ is naturally non-conductive, corrosion resistant and lightweight, making it ideal for power, instrumentation and RF sensitive zones where conventional metallic systems can introduce safety and durability issues.
The range covers:

  • FRP cable ladder for heavy duty cable runs
  • FRP cable tray and trough for lighter and mixed services
  • FRP strut systems, supports and accessories for complete cable support frameworks

EXduro™ systems are engineered according to the requirements NEMA FG 1 up to a NEMA 20C classification, supporting high working loads over long spans. Where a longer span or higher load capacity is needed, Treadwell can design a custom EXduro™ cable ladder to meet site-specific requirements.

For operators in processing plants, refineries, water and wastewater treatment, mining, marine and power infrastructure, EXduro™ provides durable, low maintenance cable support that is easier to install and safer to operate than traditional steel alternatives.

Key Benefits

Non-conductive and safer around power

  • FRP is electrically non-conductive, helping reduce the risk of touch and step potentials in substations, rail corridors, and high-voltage areas.
  • No standard earthing or bonding is required for the ladder or tray itself, simplifying design and site installation compared to metallic systems.

Superior corrosion and UV resistance

  • EXduro™ components are manufactured from corrosion-resistant resins with UV stabilisers, providing long service life in chemical plants, coastal facilities and outdoor installations.

  • FRP will not rust, and is highly resistant to many acids, salts and industrial atmospheres where galvanised and even stainless steel can degrade.

High load capacity on longer spans

  • EXduro™ cable ladder is engineered up to NEMA 20C, which corresponds to approximately 148 kilograms per meter working load over a 6-meter span.

  • Longer spans can reduce the number of supports required, lowering material and installation costs for large runs.

Lightweight and easier to install

  • FRP cable ladder and tray are typically significantly lighter than stainless steel for equivalent load rating, reducing manual handling effort and cranage requirements.

  • Products can be cut and drilled on site with standard tools, with no hot work, no sparks and no re-galvanising or repainting of cut edges.

Reduced issues with dissimilar metals

  • Because EXduro™ is non-metallic, it avoids galvanic corrosion that can occur when a stainless cable ladder is fixed to carbon steel structures.

  • This simplifies detailing and reduces the need for isolating pads, sleeves and other protective interfaces.

Versatile configurations and accessories

  • EXduro™ encompasses cable ladders, slotted or solid base trays, troughs, FRP struts, and a full suite of fittings and supports, enabling non-metallic cable systems from primary runs to local supports.

  • Treadwell also offers enhanced rung designs that simplify cable tie-off and improve cable retention on critical runs.

Applications

Heavy industry and processing plants

EXduro™ FRP cable ladder is well suited to:

  • Mineral processing plants and refineries, where corrosive atmospheres and wash down cycles rapidly attack metal supports
  • Chemical and fertiliser plants with aggressive vapours and spill risks
  • Zinc, nickel and other metal refineries where both corrosion and electrical safety are critical

Water and wastewater treatment

  • Cable ladder, tray and trough systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, including clarifiers, pump stations and odour control facilities

  • Ideal where hydrogen sulphide, chlorination, saline spray or constant moisture would shorten the life of steel cable supports

Power, renewables and substations

  • Substations and switchyards where non conductive cable management improves safety and can reduce earthing complexity

  • Solar and wind farm balance of plant, where long cable runs and harsh outdoor exposure demand durable, low maintenance supports

Marine and coastal infrastructure

  • Jetties, wharves and coastal plants using FRP cable ladder or deep troughs to route and protect power and control cabling over water

  • Applications where wave uplift, salt spray and tidal zones would severely impact metallic systems

Industrial services and mixed utilities

  • Mixed service runs carrying data, instrumentation, compressed air and small bore services on FRP tray and strut

  • Instrumentation stands, small frames and supports built from FRP strut to keep everything within a non metallic, corrosion resistant system
