Dove Lake Bypass Track
Dove Lake Bypass Track
Carved by glaciers, Dove Lake lies directly beneath Cradle Mountain in Tasmania. Avid bushwalkers can choose from a network of walking and hiking tracks that take them around Dove Lake, or further explore Cradle Mountain, including trails that go up to the summit. These tracks can be combined in any number of ways that allow for overnight camping trips and magnificent views of this iconic Australian vista. The views and native wildlife will also spark interest in photography enthusiasts.
As construction for improved facilities are underway, a new track to bypass the carpark has been installed. Treadwell was engaged to provide the grating for this, as well as for the upcoming new tracks.
Project Challenges
- The selected decking had to allow the natural vegetation to flourish.
- A key consideration was the amount of snowfall received in the area. The selected decking had to allow the snow to fall through.
- Installation would be on uneven terrain.
- Downtime for any maintenance and repairs, if required, had to be kept at a minimum.

Scope of Work: Supply FRP grating
Treadwell Products :
- EX-Series® GratEX® FRP Square Mesh Grating
Treadwell Solution
- Treadwell’s GratEX® FRP Square grating apertures allow enough light and ventilation to the covered vegetation to ensure that the natural habitat and environment flourishes.
- The large aperture of the grating allows for snow to easily fall through, creating a self-maintaining anti-slip surface.
- Treadwell’s FRP products work well in tandem with other materials to meet project requirements.
- Being lightweight and easy to install, FRP is very manageable during construction.
- Given the nature of FRP, any system utilising it is virtually maintenance free, keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.
