Julius River Rainforest Walk
Julius River Rainforest Walk
The Tarkine Drive takes you off the beaten path and into the dramatic wilderness of Tasmania’s Tarkine region. The loop through the Tarkine Drive takes you through many natural landscapes, including the Julius River Forest Reserve. A cool, temperate rainforest with picnic facilities and walking trails, it is easily accessible.
As part of upgrades to ensure visitor safety as well as to protect the native flora and fauna, a boardwalk as well as a viewing platform were installed. Treadwell was engaged to supply the FRP decking for this new structure.
Project Challenges
- Material had to be easily maneuvered to the work site, due to the location constraints.
- Decking had to allow ample ventilation to allow the native environment to flourish.
- Anti-slip properties were a requirement, for user safety.
Project Information
Project Category: Recreational Public Infrastructure
Scope of Work: Supply FRP grating
Treadwell Products :
- EX-Series® GratEX® FRP Square Mesh Grating
Treadwell Solution
- GratEX® FRP grating is constructed from premium resins, with corrosion resistant properties, UV stabilisers and fire-retardant additives, making it ideal for this outdoor application.
- The aperture in the grating panels allow for maximum ventilation and sunlight to allow the natural environment to thrive.
- GratEX® FRP panels have an anti-slip surface to ensure user safety.
- FRP is simply fabricated and modified on site. This means there is no need for any hot works permit.
- Being lightweight and easy to install, FRP is very manageable during construction.
- Given the nature of FRP, any system utilising it is virtually maintenance free, keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.
