Knox City Council Park
Knox City Council Park
This site of land in Knox City, Victoria, was once an apple orchard. It is now a popular, fun-filled playground designed with children in mind, and a perfect place to spend the weekend. Secured with fencing around the perimeter, kids’ safety is ensured as they go about their play. This park also includes grassy areas for picnics and barbecues, as well as a pond where ducks frolic.
Treadwell was engaged to provide the grating for the lookout point to the pond.
Project Challenges
- Being a park with native wildlife and frequented by children running around with bare feet, the selected material had to be anti-slip to address safety concerns, without causing abrasions.
- Installation was dependent on weather conditions.
- Selected material had to have low thermal conductivity.
Project Information
Project Category: Recreational Public Infrastructure
Scope of Work: Supply FRP Grating
Treadwell Products :
- EX-Series® GratEX® FRP Mini Mesh Grating
- EX-Series® GridEX® T-Type Pultruded Grating
Treadwell Solution
- GridEX® Pultruded grating was selected for this application as the structure of the grating creates a solid surface that prevents objects catching in between the load bars.
- GridEX® grating is safe for bare feet, while maintaining anti-slip properties.
- GratEX® Mini Mesh provides an anti-slip surface, while allowing water to pass through. This reduces the risk of water stagnating on the surface.
- Treadwell’s FRP products are constructed from premium resin systems that boast low thermal and electrical conductivity.
- Being lightweight and easy to install, FRP is very manageable during construction.
- Given the nature of FRP, any system utilising it is virtually maintenance free, keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.
