Swimming Pool Decking Support Replacement
The decking support beams of our client’s swimming pool had corroded and needed to be replaced. This was originally constructed from traditional materials and did not last long being exposed to the environment. New structural beams needed to be installed to ensure safety. As there was already a foundation, the new beams needed to be of a similar height and had to be able to be incorporated into the existing structure.

- The FRP structural beams needed to be of a similar height to the previous structure.
- The existing decking needed to be fixed down in the same way to the new support structure.
- Due to tight time constraints, the project needed a product that was in stock and the FRP solution needed to be executed quickly.

- Treadwell had a ready range of structural sections from which to select the best suited product, coupled with sound technical advice.
- ArchitEX™ FRP beams and sections were specified for the needs of this project. These were made from specially formulated resin that would withstand corrosion.
- FRP brackets were supplied for beam to beam connections.
- FRP is simply fabricated and modified on site. This means there is no need for any hot works permit.
- Being lightweight and easy to install, FRP is very manageable during construction.
- Given the nature of FRP, any system utilising it is virtually maintenance free, thus keeping maintenance costs as low as possible.
