Sydney Trains
Sydney Trains
New South Wales – This train station is part of the extensive passenger rail network serving the city of Sydney. As part of an essential passenger accessibility upgrade, a lift shaft and related supporting platforms were installed. This was to provide a better experience for public transport commuters by delivering modern, reliable and safe infrastructure.
Treadwell was engaged to supply the FRP C-Channels for this upgrade.
Project Challenges
- Outdoor installation meant that weather conditions had to be considered.
- The selected material had to withstand exposure to outdoor weather conditions and remain corrosion free.
- The selected material had to be non-electrically conductive to ensure safety for users.
Project Information
Project Category: Train Station Infrastructure
Scope of Work: Supply FRP structural profiles
Treadwell Products : ArchitEX™ FRP Structural Profiles
Treadwell Solution
- FRP is lightweight and is very manageable during construction.
- ArchitEX™ FRP structural profiles are constructed from premium resin systems which ensure durability with built-in corrosion resistant properties.
- FRP naturally has low thermal and electrical conductivity, providing excellent insulation against any potential stray currents.
- FRP is simply fabricated and modified on site. This means there is no need for any hot works permit.
- Given the nature of FRP, any system utilising it is virtually maintenance free, keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.
