Yacht Club Ramp
Yacht Club Ramp
This heavy-duty ramp is based at a Victorian yacht club which has a shared use involving a wide range of loadings. This includes water access for horse exercise, yachts from the yacht club and also heave tip trucks for seaweed removal from the beach.
Due to the high point loading created by heavy vehicles, the Treadwell Heavy-Duty GratEX® FRP grating was selected to withstand this loading as well as the environment it is placed in.
Project Challenges
- An exposed marine environment meant a durable product had to be selected.
- Needed to be able to withstand high weight loading.
- Being on the shore, the material had to ensure that sand and other coastal debris would not collect and stagnate on the ramp.

Treadwell Products :
- EX-Series® GratEX® FRP Rectangular Mesh Grating
- EXSemble® FRP fasteners
Treadwell Solution
- High performance GratEX® FRP rectangular mesh grating was specified as it exceeded the loading requirements.
- The design of the grating addressed the concern of debris accumulating and causing safety hazards.
- The GratEX® grating is corrosion resistant and anti-slip, providing superior safety and durability.
- FRP is simply fabricated and modified on site. This means there is no need for any hot works permit.
- Being lightweight and easy to install, FRP is very manageable during construction.
- Given the nature of FRP, any system utilising it is virtually maintenance free, keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.
