Hospital Ambulance Ramp
Hospital Ambulance Ramp
Located in Victoria, this hospital required the installation of an ambulance ramp to facilitate ease of patient transfers. Being installed at the height of the current pandemic, the ramp had to be put in place within a tight timeframe. Additionally, the landings had to be spacious enough to manoeuvre a patient gurney.
Treadwell was engaged to provide the decking for the ramp.
Project Challenges
- Ramp would need to withstand high weight loading as this was used as a pick up and drop off point for patients gurney traffic. Such ramps needed to meet compliance codes.
- Used for patient transport in various wheelchairs and mobility aids, the ramp had to maintain a consistent surface without joint protrusions.
- The chosen material had to sit flush with the flooring to facilitate seamless transitions.

- Ex-Series® GratEX® FRP Micro Mesh Grating
Treadwell Solution
- EX-Series® GratEX® FRP grating is constructed as a large single piece panel, and can be installed such that it forms a uniform surface, without large gaps between panels.
- GratEX® FRP grating is constructed with an anti-slip surface, providing superior slip resistance.
- Treadwell is able to provide panels that meet the relevant codes and standards.
- FRP is simply fabricated and modified on site. This means there is no need for any hot works permit.
- Being lightweight and easy to install, FRP is very manageable during construction.
- Given the nature of FRP, any system utilising it is virtually maintenance free, keeping maintenance costs to a minimum.
