Under the WHS Act 2012 (SA) PCBU (Person Conducting Business or Undertaking) have a primary duty to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that the health and safety of workers is not put at risk from the conduct of the business or undertaking.
This means that PCBU have an obligation to ensure workers are safe from risks which are present in the workplace.
However, all workers must also take reasonable care for their own health and safety and for the people around them, including to not put another persons health and safety at risk.
Under the WHS Act 2012 (SA) PCBU are required to:

ALL WORKERS MUST ADHERE TO INSTRUCTIONS AT ALL TIMES
The use of mobile phones, handheld devices, headphones as well as listening to music can distract people from the hazards around them.
Mobile phones used for business purposes must NOT be used in the manufacturing areas unless taking photos for work purposes.
To ensure workers are aware of their surroundings and not distracted from hazards in the workplace, workers are NOT allowed to:
Rubbish has the potential to reach our waterway which pollutes our environment. Waste disposal shall be as per EPA requirements and licensing agreements.
It is the responsibility of all workers to dispose of pollutants in the correct manner.
Workers are permitted to park in the designated parking area.
All speed limits posted throughout the sites shall be adhered to. Treadwell Group site is 5 kmph, unless stated otherwise. Workers must exercise courtesy and care at all times.
Company vehicles can only be operated by licensed drivers who have Management authority to do so and have signed and acknowledged the Treadwell Company Vehicle Policy.
Safety rules must be followed to ensure the safety of worker’s duties, which includes any other person affected by Company operations. Any non-routine work to be performed outside of normal operating hours (7 AM – 5 PM) will require approval from your Supervisor and Senior Management.
You must be in a state (physical, mental and emotional) which enables you to perform your task competently and in a safe manner.
Is a chargeable criminal offence and as such, if theft or misappropriation occurs, the relevant authorities will be contacted for investigation. All vehicles leaving Treadwell’s site are subject to inspection by a WHS Officer or Human Resources Department.
Each person has a moral and legal obligation for safety and the safety of others in the workplace.
The materials used shall comply with the requirements that are outlaid either through the job allocation or drawings.
The site workshop or tools of any type are to be used, cleaned and returned to their original location.
All equipment must be effectively and safely guarded and in good working condition and properly maintained in accordance with the WHS Regulations 2012.
Portable electrical equipment shall have proof of compliance with in-service safety inspection and testing AS3760.
(i.e. – Equipment shall be tagged to display the current testing information)
Are to conform to the Australian Standards for the work required and shall be used in association with the Managing the risk of falls at workplaces Code of Practice and used as detailed in the Work Health, Safety & Welfare Regulations 2014 and on the SafeWork SA website for use of ladders.
Signage is used to detail a specific rule, requirement or hazard in our workplace. Workers must display warning signs where a hazard exists.
Workers shall have the appropriate license and qualifications to safely perform work on site. A copy of these will be stored under the worker’s file.

The Company has created Safe Work Instructions (SWIs).
Safe Work Instructions are written instructions that identify the health and safety issues that may arise from the use of machinery, equipment, tools, processes or tasks.

Sharp edges are a common result of machining and cutting operations during the manufacture of FRP components. Refer to relevant SOP’s for specific manufacturing processes or signage in each area for the designation of appropriate PPE to safeguard hands and fingers from laceration.
You must be formally trained to enter confined spaces or to perform work at a height above 2 metres.Personnel must plan the job and gain approval from Treadwell Group Management before work is commenced.

Electricity is one of the most useful and versatile power forms. Electric power is completely safe if used correctly, but can be directly or indirectly lethal if used in an unsafe manner.
APPLIANCE INSPECTION (Before Use). You must inspect appliances for damage. DO NOT use damaged appliances. If damaged, tell your Supervisor immediately.
Major Hazard!Direct contact with electricity (electric shock) may result in cardiac arrest (Heart attack) and death.
You must be trained and have management authority to drive on site.
No worker shall operate a forklift truck unless they:

Pedestrians must watch out for forklifts, give way to forklifts and be seen by forklift drivers.
No worker shall operate a crane unless they have been trained.
The main use of compressed air at Treadwell Group is for operations in work cells. Other areas of use include hand tools like grinders, and various cylinders used in automatic equipment.
ALWAYS USE HEARING PROTECTION AND SAFETY GLASSES. NEVER AIM COMPRESSED AIR AT ANYBODY!
Only use a designated / approved blower nozzle to blow yourself down with. These have a restrictor ensuring that compressed air is regulated to a safe pressure.
ALWAYS FOLLOW THE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS WHEN USING COMPRESSED AIR. ALWAYS USE HEARING PROTECTION AND SAFETY GLASSES. NEVER AIM COMPRESSED AIR AT ANYBODY!
Any sign of heat stress needs to be reported immediately to ensure treatment is undertaken by First Aid trained personnel!
Heat in hotter seasons can be a hazard for anyone, particularly for personnel working outside. Water is provided at all sites.
SHORTS AND TANK TOPS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
Description / Symptoms
Heat stroke is accompanied by a rapid rise in body core temperature. Symptoms include:
Treatment / First Aid Action Plan
Is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate first aid and medical attention.First aid treatment consists of returning the body core temperature to normal.
May be due to circulatory, water, salt or sweat deficienciesSymptoms include general tiredness, giddiness, nausea, cold feelings, sighing, yawning, shallow or irregular breathing, facial pallor or bluish color to face.
Recovery is usually rapid when the person is moved to a cooler environment and allowed to rest in a comfortable position.
Arises from an inability of the body to dissipate excess heat through sweating. If the condition is prolonged, heat exhaustion can lead to heat stroke which can be life-threatening.
This illness can be prevented if the operator maintains fluid levels, take regular breaks and wear suitable clothing.
Covers the feelings experienced by people when environmental conditions are hot. It is not a medical condition.
In many cases where people experience considerable heat discomfort, face no significant risk of succumbing to a serious heat illness.

Injury may occur as a result of single overexertion or develop over a prolonged period from accumulation of many minor tissue injuries.
A worker shall take reasonable care –
